What are the options available to avoid foreclosure?
I have a parent who can not pay for a higher mortgage payment, what are the options available to avoid foreclosure? The house has been on the market for nine months, but no buyers.
Do not stop not to make payments on time. Have a lender reviews the loan and equity and see if there is anything they can do in the mean time reduce payments. Second, see if they could rent the house to cover the payments for now. Third, offer more commission to selling agent. As 5% to the selling agent. This will motivate the agents to show the house. Last step, contact the lender and see what they can do. Remember though, if the bank loses money you could be taxes for the difference as income. This should be your last resort.
